Care instructions
We recommend washing your hemp bedding below 40 degrees Celsius.
We also advise against dry cleaning your sheets - however, a dryer or hang dry is suitable.
If using a dryer, use a warm setting and stretch out the fabric after finishing.
When hang drying, try not to leave your sheets in the sun for too long.
How do we Source our Fibre?
Our business Partner in our production of the bed sheets you will love. She has a direct relationship at the most prominent market direct from Farmers like a hemp fibre Co-Op.
This means we have the inside word on large purchases by non-hemp businesses like Nike and Muji which have a flow-on affect on the availability for smaller artisanal makers like us.
This also means we are traceable to the locations in China where they have been growing hemp for textiles for generations. India and China are still the biggest growers of hemp for textile.
How do we Process our Fibre?
Retting and Preparing any textile for commercial mass use, clothing or bed linen usually has a very toxic concoction of chemicals and sulfates. This is very, very common and the cheaper the quality the product the less quality the chemicals used. The less expensive the product, and the wastewater treatment plant also is non existent.
Our bed linen is very carefully processed and yes to make the colours we need the fibre to be lightened as to ensure you get the colours you want. Our Natural hemp is a unprocessed and no solvents or bleaches are used in this product.
It is essential to understand it is impossible to create light colours, or pure whites without bleach and possibly sulphates. The other thing that happens is the colour will be varied across the materials if there are not chemicals. So if you are reading other information, please send me the link and we can discuss by email.
How do we Bleach our Fabric?
Very carefully, our production is state of the art with a massive focus on waste water not polluting the community.
There is no bedding in the world that can not have in one way or another a discolouration process.
How do we Colour our Fabric?
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but if you are looking for a minimal intervention, a non-chemical compound-created product please Select the Natural / Organic-esque hemp.
We are not “certified” though we are very considerate of the product being spray and chemical free.
If want a beautiful rich colour as a textiles major, I know you need some help from chemicals and salts. They make the fabric porous and more absorbent and then the bed sheets are crispy white or light pink or blue.
We really are always looking how we can improve our offering and move from not only OEKO 100 to Vegetable pigments we are not at that scale yet though it very much is on the horizon and any support from you is reinvested in the growth to that point.
How do we Weave?
This is one of the most high-risk fibres, its natural characteristics of having like nipples or mini knots like trees means there is always a risk of the bump getting caught when weaving.
This is one reason hemp is expensive as there is very few weavers who can get the material a tight weave and produce such a beautiful luxurious 280cm wide bed linen.
How do we package your purchase?
This is a work in progress though we have cut down so much plastic from our supply chain from when we started selling bed linen.
We now use paper sticky tape and ship directly from our manufacturer to you the customer.
Though sometimes with international freight the packages can get wet and left out in the elements some freight forwarders might tape or wrap the boxes. Though we are continually improving this to be plastic free.
How do we Distribute?
Currently we hold a limited number of sizes premade in Queen as this is the most popular size and we know our major market is still Australia. So we are trying to limit Air freight from Asia to Australia where possible. Customers in USA, UK and Asia all are directly shipped from our manufacturer to your home. Again always trying to be plastic free entirely.
Though some do sneak through with some plastic sticky tape. We are sorry and please let us know if you do get it.
Who are you investing in.
We are earth and business engineers of a planet that is abundant with love and life. We are trying to create a commercial entity that operates differently. We ensure there is ongoing optimisations in our supply chain and product for a positive green future.
Our bed sheets are ethically and environmentally sound.
We only want to express good vibes and great sleeps.
